We were recently considering switching from Janitrol to C&D since the required motor replacements over the life of the heater end up costing more than the heater itself....and lo and behold - Harzell bought C&D Heaters and is in the process (complete now I think) of moving everything to Alabama.
Still talking with Harzell to figure out why the sealed motors need to be changed out every 500 hours but no luck getting anywhere thus far.
They have mentioned that 'sometime' in the future they will be reviewing the ICA for the C&D and be most likely making both ICA similar.
Wonderful.....hopefully they provide some relief to the crazy 500 motor replacements but two years ago it went 'under review' and nothing happened

Hopefully their QC on them is better than their fuel pumps and what they've done to Plane Power alternators.

Tim:
Do you have any aircraft with the rear heater installation? We are thinking about that installation for one of our chieftains. When you have two big holes in the floor of the airplane it gets pretty chilly in the winter.

We have removed all of our rear heaters - in the extreme cold we may find metal tape blocking the 2-3 holes in the belly.....
We also zinc tape the 3,000,000 holes in the front right behind the avionics shelf.
Usually keeps most the planes pretty warm

Sent our spare C and D heater to them for overhaul and guess what? They claim that it "looks like it may have suffered foreign object ingestion and cannot be overhauled" so they want to only give us $500 for the core and sell us a new heater.
