Last summer when we were doing some gear work, we found that the bushings in the left gear upper forward retract link p/n 85166-002 had come loose in the link and contributed to the wobbly gear we had. We replaced it and the lower retract link p/n 40284-000 for the same problem. Fast forward about a year and ~900 hours, and doing a gear teardown and complete rebush and the practically brand new parts have the same problem. It's almost like the tolerance between the link and the bushing is too great, the way I see it they should be a press fit (like, arbor or even hydraulic press!) but after taking bushings out of a new link for the right side I'd say it's almost like a push fit new from Piper-they use a green loctite to retain it but between that and the poor fit it seems like it's not doing the job. Right now we're trying new bushings and red loctite, but I'm pretty disappointed because I figured that with new links we would be good other than occasionally changing bushings for at least a few thousand hours. Not sure if anyone else has run into this, if nothing else I wanted to vent.
