Hello Folks -
Stu Hanley here from Fort Lauderdale Florida. First I want to thank the fellow who put this forum together - it was badly needed - and I appreciate the time it took to do so - Thank you !
I operate a 1976 Chieftain on my 135 operation (as well as a pair of Beech 18's) see www.aztecairways.com .
I have had my Chieftain for about 10 years, and some days I love it and some days I hate (of course) but overall she has made me money along the way - I feel the airplane has some Achilles heels built into it but basically I am very glad I choose the Chieftain over the 402 ten years ago. I am adding another (a 1979) in a couple of weeks with a third to come soon after that.
I am very interested in whatever work you folks may have done towards developing an FAA appprovable "Aging aircraft" inspection program - the current FAA publication is OK by me until you get to the wing-pull; I really think this is too big a deal for my small shop and will make a mess out of my really nice Chieftain. I would like to to do the spar portion of it a bolt hole at a time - Has anyone gotten this approved as an AMC?
My airframes are 14,500, and 15,000 hours more or less so they come under the aging program for commuter service. I am on-demand now, and I would really like to go commuter, but the only thing holding me back is this damn inspection. BTW I will be happy to buy anyone's program if they have one approved already that leaves the wings on! $$
Anyway thanks again - I hope to be a regular contributor to the blog on my trials and tribulations of Chieftain ownership.......
Regards,
Stu
