We just got one of our planes back with the G600 installed so I figured I would post a pic - looks pretty damn nice This plane also was upgraded to ADS-B and Mode S (Garmin), an STEC-65 Autopilot, has existing Garmin 530W and 430W, and digital MP and TACHs It also has the main gear doors (inner) removed - love that upgrade! Any questions on the install lemmie know - we will update as we fly out any kinks, etc

I have the G600 also. It is a nice added touch. Just curious of why you removed the main gear doors? I haven't heard of that upgrade.

Hi Scott - We removed the MLG Doors to help make maintenance 'easier' With 15 Chieftains we also had 5 with different gear down speeds, etc - There is a bit of a thread on it here: MLG Door RemovalIf that doesn't make sense, let me know Tim

I am wondering what is going to replace these old units. Kristin Winter DO -- HarrisAir, Sitka

It's the low-altitude enroute stuff (R2020, etc) that's the issue. And even that isn't equipment capability, it's that when it came time to developing the coding for it, Garmin basically gave users the middle finger because there's so few of us.

Also Genesys is making a new EFIS that fits in about the same hole as a Chelton screen, but 1) it's mad expensive and 2) they don't have an AML-STC yet, we looked into doing it on one of our Caravans. The price wasn't the issue, it was the lead time for them to develop an STC.

How is it that you can get approaches with alternative equipment but not the low altitude airways? That seems sort of goofy. Is there anyone at the FAA that is watching over this Capstone program anymore?

You need to talk to Jimmy W. with the Capstone program. He knows all.
