www.hartzellenginetech.com/aircraft-parts/aircraft-cabin-heater.htmlA New Janitrol Heater is available - seems it may be a good choice for us - - I-Series tube made from Inconel ® high temperature alloy. Provides substantially improved resistance to oxidation (corrosion) as seen in current heaters.
- I-Series heater features a new spark plug. The single piece electrode allows easier replacements.
- Newly designed air pressure switch.
And the best part is - the B-Series AD Does not Apply! Most us us have saw this AD come and go (and come again) with new tube design - hopefully this one will provide permanent relief They have a retrofit kit but we will most likely just begin replacing with these at Heater TBO - Pricing is within a few hundred of the old heater it seems

We have received our first new-style heater
SB A-101, Rev G gives some information on this upgrade - The I-Series Heater Owners Manual P/N 99M90 is also included.
As expected - looks the same as the old - Will post more once installed and run for a while

We finally got the Owners Manual along with the heater - thought I would share the following: - You are allowed to count 1 heater hour for each 2 flight hours if you do not use the hobbs on the heater - TBO is 2000 Hours (4000 Flight Hours w/o Hobbs on Heater) or 12 Calendar Years
- As mentioned before - the Heater Decay test AD does not apply to this heater -- the Manual does require it to be performed every 500 Hours.
- Also at 500 Hours, the manual requires both Spark Plug and Fuel Nozzle Replacement -- NOTE: There is a new Type 3 plug
- At 1000 Hours there are some testing requirements for External Fuel Shutoff Valves, etc
Any Questions, Please Ask

In the continuing I-Series saga we got a pretty quick response from Hartzell -
From: Barregarye, Constance [mailto:cbarregarye@hartzellenginetech.com] Sent: Thursday, May 02, 2013 12:35 PM To: Judd Irwin Subject: RE: Overhaul & Maintenance Manual
I am sorry for the confusion, your data tag was mistyped. The FR65D9-3(IS) is actually model I-5000. Please let me know if you need a new data tag.
Thanks!
Constance
Guess if you have one in stock, make sure the Numbers are correct and contact Harzell for a new data tag, if needed

More problems.....
The are conflicts between the spark plug part numbers in the dialog of the MM and the actual Parts Blow up -
In contacting Hartzell they said to defer to SB A-101 until a revision can be published
Availl also has no plugs or nozzles in stock - on backorder -
This may get interesting soon

Quick note -
Aviall now stocks all required pieces and parts (plug, nozzle, etc)
We have a few of these now installed and they are working great!
Hopefully the design is such that the AD doesn't come back like it has in the past with the 'new and improved' ceramic cans

The exchange heater is FR65D79-3IS and is being sold for $2625.46
The Upgrade kit is 65D79-39(IS)-U and is being sold for $2050.00
Looks like the old ceramic is being phased out - they are now sold for $3942.50 if one would want this vs new
