I have an issue with a late model PA31-350. The master kicks on by itself randomly. It comes and goes. Changed the master switch a couple times, same with master solenoid. Last time it did it, disconnected the sense wire from the external power relay and it fixed it for 4 days. I ran a new temp wire from the master solenoid to switch and it had no change.

If the Master Switch is in the "ON" position and nobody put it there you have a ghostly problem...
If the Master Switch is in the "OFF" position and the system power is ON? One of the 'two' wires that runs between the Master Contactor and the Master Switch is grounding out. Maintenance Manual 761-768 (T1020) Figure 9-12 shows that there's two wires. One from the Master Contactor to the Master Switch 'Left' and One to the Master Switch 'Right'.

The switch is in the off position. I disconnected the two wires from the switch to the solenoid and ran a jumper wire instead in testing. It did the same thing without the switch being on.
