Hi all, new to the forum. I was told that once upon a time there was a winterisation kit for the Navajo and it proved successful in lowering CHTs, so was then sold as an engine cooling kit! Which Piper tried to kill as it was an affront to their (terrible) cowl design. Anyone know of said kit, or anything that will improve and even out the presumably turbulent airflow in the cowl? See attachment, No6 cylinder is almost 100dF cooler than the hottest No3. It has nothing to do with individual fuel flow. Our aircraft has pretty close GAMIspread and the same cylinders are hottest and coolest whether ROP or LOP. Both engines the same. Thanks in advance! Attachments:

I have a similar problem. I have the Panther conversion with their nose bowl but my 4 and 6 cylinders are the hottest with 3 right behind. The rest are 60 to 80 degrees cooler.

Interesting. I thought the Panther would be a bit better with the deletion of the prop hub extension (getting the cowl inlets closer to free stream airflow) but I'll go out on a completely uneducated limb and say the actual inlets are still too large.
If only Lo Presti made a Navajo kit..

I thought I read somewhere that the Panther cowl was supposed to cool better. In fact I think I remember a statement along the lines of the ability to climb with the cowl flaps closed. I can only close them half way in cruise. I am looking for a top cowl to experiment with louvers and cooling. If anyone has a top cowl (doesn't have to look pretty just needs to be airworthy) I can get my hands on I will need to modify it with the Panther nose bowl we would like to see if we can figure out how to cool these engines better.
