Was complying with AD98-09-25. When we removed the old splice plate we found a 3/8" flat washer has been clamped between the spar and the splice plate for the last 13000 hours.

Wow - that's odd
Did it chaff or cause any damage to the spar itself?
First time it was done since factory I'm assuming?
Thanks for sharing

How many have found cracks in the old splice plates? Would like to know the history of this AD - were the cracks found in just one aircraft?
In Australia the authorities decided to limit the life of the entire spar to 13,000 hours. The AD just says check it every 13,000 hours! (-350) Good way of selling more C208s down under.

We have had a 27,000 and a 39,000 hour plane inspected via eddy current along the holes of this stack and the only thing found was 'indications'.
We send a portion of the latest (39k) one to NAIR for further analysis and are awaiting results.
We currently life-limit these to 40,000 and have two more set to retire (one at 38k and one at 39k). We have yet to find anything significant so will continue on this path.
