Greetings, I'm working on a Cheiftain that has gas struts for the upper cabin door. Does anybody know the replacement part number? I recall a generic P/N (NAPA) was available in my previous life working up north. Any help would be great. Thanks

We received a few 'napa' style and replaced them as our Feds may not be happy with the generic. I have seen ones on Navajos from trailercraft type places n such.
The piper number is 43853-000. Looks like they are available but like $2100 from Aviall Dallas.
Maybe parts network has serviceable ones a bit cheaper also.

Check Preferred, Controller, Wilco also. Or if your conscience is good with it take the worn one to National Aircraft Parts Association and find one of the same dimension. As an IA I can't of course condone the second course of action.

I got one a while back from Mike Jones Aircraft Sales, I can't remember what I paid but it wasn't $2100 I know that.

We all know Piper drives down to the Vero Beach O'Reilly's and buys them along with their Cherokee alternator belts. Then stops at Walgreens for their manifold pressure gauge filters on the way back.
