Hey all, a couple months ago one of our guys tapped the nose of the airplane with a tug and the plastic cap on the end of the radome shattered. We put some glass on there but frankly it looks like garbage. Anyone know if that part is obtainable separately? I see the 486-685 (alt p/n SJ8665-FP23 ) boot in the IPC, but that as far as I can tell that is just a clear film that protects the paint.

We use to be able to purchase these from a guy I believe in Minnesota. I was no longer able to get ahold of him and we switched to the 3M type. The black plastic caps we use to order was simply a part number Cap-9 that came with the cap and RTV needed to install. I sent one of these black caps to a DER in Anchorage to see if they could duplicate them. After a quote of $7500 we decided to go with the 3M type.

Last time I looked I couldn't find those either.

I use to get them from Aviall, but I see they're no longer available. Aircraft Spruce has PM Research ones under part number PM-170 for the Cheiftains
