Vertical is back on finally after a couple on-off-on cycles-with the drag angle replacement we had a couple rivets that had to be put in in just the right sequence. Also when replacing one drag link got things out of line just a little and had to put a shim under that angle. Another issue we had was that our long radius block was manufactured wrong-they had the radius on the wrong side relative to the curve that's in the block. I wish I'd taken a picture so you could see what I'm talking about but it was not readily apparent until trying to nest the radius block into the doubler. While working back there we saw a couple loose rivets in the fuselage around that area that had to be replaced too. Little things. Both engines and props are hanging now too, just have to finish wiring up the audio panel/intercom (we're dumping the KMA24 for a PS engineering one) and then we'll pull the gear out (as far as I can tell this gear has never had a full rebush/rebolt and some stuff is pretty wobble).

First picture shows the curve of the radius block, designed to make it fit properly to the bulkhead. However: This is what it looks like with the radius side tucked up to the bulkhead (different bulkhead shown since the pulley brackets are back in now so I couldn't put it on the sta. 317 bulkhead) This is what it should look like, and what it does look like-if you position the radiused portion of the radius block forward, away from the bend in the bulkhead, instead of aft and nestled in place.

And now for something completely different, or not.... Keith Noles (Atlanta ACO dude and all around good guy) just let me know they are releasing a Global AMOC for this today to clarify some things. From Piper- "Just a heads up. As you know, there is an AD associated with SB1273B, attached. An issue came up with an operator, he had installed the “big doubler” (configuration 3, view BB, SB1273B) while complying with SB626A and its associated AD, several years ago. SB1273B and its AD supersedes SB626A and its associated AD. The attached AMOC just makes it clear that if you find that you have the large doubler installed while complying with SB626A, that is terminating action. You are good to go." 317 AMOC.pdf (43.03 KB) SB 1273B.pdf (488.61 KB)

Has anyone heard of anybody getting an extension or relief from the 500 hour kit install requirement. I have an airplane on contract with 100 hours left to go and I'd really like to avoid pulling it off this job just to install that kit.
